Keystone Mine (Mt. Emmons) – Underground Rehabilitation and Utility Installation
Client: U.S. Energy Corp.
Location: Crested Butte, CO, United States
Continuing through 2012, MES has been engaged for numerous years of follow-on task orders for as-needed portal repair and underground tunnel care & maintenance rehabilitation work in the inactive underground silver mine which sits adjacent to a major molybdenum deposit. Additionally, in 2011, MES installed new utilities to a distance of 4800 feet in from the portal to drain water from behind a bulkheaded area of the mine, enabling clean water to bypass AMD generation areas. Planned work for 2013 will be underground longhole drilling for background water sampling.
