US 40 Cribwall – Replacement Project
Client: Duckels Construction for, Colorado Department of Transportation
Location: Berthoud Pass, Colorado, United States
MES Mining provided extensive soil-nailing, approximately 9000 square feet of shotcrete, and rock bolting design-build services to stabilize the downslope roadway edge where there were near-vertical cuts of up to 45 feet. Ms. Linda Moran was the Project manager for the Berthoud Pass / US-40 Crib Wall replacement project, completed in 2001.
CDOT directed MES to perform extensive additional work during the project, including grouting of void zones under the roadway and concrete structural demolition by blasting. MES used civil engineering consultant, Merline VanDyke, P.E. to work with in-house engineers to design the stabilization for the failing section of US Highway 40.
