Legacy Mine Site - Drainage Tunnel Collapse

Legacy Mine Site – Drainage Tunnel Collapse Recovery- Phase I and II
Client: Tier I Gold Company
Location: United States

MES was engaged in the fall of 2013 to undertake the emergency recovery of a collapse in tunnel at a legacy mine site. Work was sourced through a multi-year Master Services Agreement with a Tier I gold company. The initial task order for emergency work included assistance with tunnel records research, development of preliminary ground control plans for approval by the Owner’s Engineering department, installation of numerous steel and timber sets, recovery of the collapsed zone, and pumping of void fill grout. Later work under a follow-on task order for Phase II included the re-installation of the rail system and rehabilitation of the remainder of the tunnel up to the location of a flow-through bulkhead seal.
