Summitville Mine Site, Reynolds & Chandler Adits – Mine Tunnel Rehabilitation
Client: CDM Federal Programs, Inc.
Location: Rio Grande County, Colorado, United States
MES had a three-year services agreement with US EPA prime contractor for seasonal underground mine maintenance, Reynolds and Chandler mines, Summitville Mine Superfund site, which was completed in 2001. Activities included removal of sludge, debris, and muck from underground workings; Replacement of walkways and timbering as needed; Repair of pipelines from plug to portal, and repair/replacement of valving and pressure transducer.
Work was at a high altitude in a very remote area. MES’ tunnel rehabilitation project at the Summitville Mine required teamwork and coordination with the prime contractor, CDM Federal Programs, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, US EPA, other subcontractors, and Rocky Mountain Consultants.
